Erin Kahn is the Director of Strategy and Programs for The Russell Family Foundation (TRFF). She leads a three-person program team, working to ensure the Foundation’s strategies are effective and maximizing community impact with partners and grantees. Erin works for TRFF on a part-time basis while maintaining her philanthropy consulting practice, in which she advises donors and grantmaking organizations to help grow their impact. Prior to her work with TRFF and consulting, Erin spent 12 years as the founding executive director of the Raikes Foundation, a private foundation based in Seattle. Erin was also previously Associate Director at Social Venture Partners Seattle, one of the first “venture philanthropy” organizations in the United States. In addition to her professional pursuits, Erin is involved in numerous volunteer roles and board service including serving on the board of directors of Philanthropy Northwest. She is an alumna of the German Marshall Memorial Fellowship and Leadership Tomorrow and earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington. Erin resides in Seattle with her husband and two sons.
